"My intention for this project was to document my home town of Newhaven, East Sussex and the surrounding area. Growing up I struggled to identify with the place and even though I never felt negatively towards the town I never really felt I belonged. This sense of not belonging has followed me over the years since leaving and has informed my photography to varying degrees, with the themes of memory and home featuring heavily in my projects.
With this in mind I decided to finally turn my camera inward and take a photographic journey into my childhood and memories. It was an attempt to connect with a place that had slipped out of my heart, but in many ways had left an imprint."
